Rise Against Hunger Celebrates "A Day On"

on  January 20, 2021

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘what are you doing for others?'”-Martin Luther King, Jr.

This MLK Day, volunteers from New Jersey, New York, Houston and Kansas City packaged over 75,000 Rise Against Hunger meals that will nourish children and families worldwide.

Surgicare of Central Jersey

In New Jersey, a volunteer with Surgicare of Central Jersey stacks the final layer completed meal bags at a boxing station. This box can nourish one child throughout an entire school year. She will be the last one to touch the meals before they are opened and distributed by our impact partners.

Riverdale YMCA

Families at the Riverdale YMCA in New York City show us that our socially distanced format can easily be modified into a family affair! Each funnel station is distanced from the next, allowing families to gather around their own table to impact lives.

Jack & Jill  of America

In Houston, volunteers from Jack and Jill of America pour soy, veggies and rice into Rise Against Hunger meal bags. Filled bags will travel to the nearest scale station — 6-8 feet down the line.

Church of the Resurrection

Church of the Resurrection in Olathe, Kansas, safely engaged over 300 volunteers with multiple shifts and meal packaging locations. Each gong strike signified 1,000 nourishing meals filled, weighed, sealed and packaged.Across the country we wore masks, measured tables, added shifts, and sanitized equipment; but we did it — together. We are grateful to work with supporters who have committed to empowering communities affected by food insecurity. Thank you for celebrating MLK Day with Rise Against Hunger!
