When It Comes to Learning, One Nicaragua School Thinks Outside the Box!

By Maggie Luckadoo on January 7, 2020

At Rise Against Hunger, we are constantly inspired by our in-country partners’ creativity and “outside the box” thinking when it comes to lifting communities and moving toward breaking the cycle of hunger and poverty. We recently received an update about one Nicaragua school that is doing just that!

“This year, we scaled out our after school education program in the communities you serve,” shared Ted Draper, Chief Operating Officer of partner organization ORPHANetwork. “The teachers are using the Rise Against Hunger boxes for bookshelves, number cards, story-boards…nothing is wasted.”

As you can see in these photos, after the nutritious Rise Against Hunger meals inside have been consumed, the teachers and students are truly making the most of the cardboard boxes in their classrooms!

Education and nutrition are a powerful combination that propels students around the globe forward on the path toward a brighter future. That’s why the majority of our meals are served in classrooms worldwide.

To nourish the lives of kids and families in need worldwide, schedule a Rise Against Hunger Experience meal packaging event or donate today!

P.S. Did you see how a school in Zimbabwe is using Rise Against Hunger boxes to house chickens in their school farm?
